The child who plays chess regularly is able to identify which chess pieces on the board should be given the priority to move depending on its location. In other words, spatial intelligence in reasoning in terms of the physical location of objects. It is the ability to organize and move pieces on a chess board to achieve the player’s objective. This is one very important practical skill that can be very helpful in daily life.
Besides everything that your child can learn in terms of the game itself and in terms of mental discipline, there is a whole lot of opportunity in chess clubs for making friends who are generally disciplined and perceptive themselves.
Children can now become members of chess clubs without ever having to leave their rooms. Many live chess clubs have created their websites in order to make it easy and possible for people to join them from anywhere around the world. Children have the opportunity of meeting a broader subset of people by joining international clubs.
Internet chess clubs not only host tournaments, but they also have classes in chess for those who want to improve their skills in the game. The member can select any level of the game to study so long as he is already proficient in all the previous level. The frequency and schedule of classes is entirely left up to the member most of the time. There may be some timeframes but these will usually be loosely applied.
The sessions themselves will be more in the style of interactive discussions centering on the topic broached by the moderator. Once in a while electronic manuals may be distributed. Because all this is done in the comfort of home, the chances for the child being able to focus well on the topic are very great.
The classes won’t really be lectures but moderated discussions with some distribution of electronic study material. Being done entirely in the house, the child can maximize focusing on the subject matter and learn to play chess well quickly. Lots of grandmasters started as kids. In fact, it is highly recommended by educators for stimulating the mental and psychological growth of children that they should play chess.
