Cleaning Your Wine Glasses Properly
There is nothing better than relaxing with a nice glass or two of wine at the end of the day. The experience is somewhat marred however when you’re all done and the wine glasses need cleaning. Dishwashers are not really an option as they can damage the glass and make them go cloudy, so what other options do you have available to you?
Clean by hand. You could always choose to wash the glassware by hand in some warm soapy water. This method does technically get the glasses clean but leaves all sorts of unsightly marks and smudges on them, and there is an argument the soap can ruin the taste of the next wine that gets put in the glass. Also, if you leave them to drip dry you can end up with a buildup of scum around the lip.
Glass cloth. If you are an avid wine drinker then you might want to invest in a high quality wine glass cloth. Made from microfibre technology, the cloths do not do any damage to the glass and remove almost all substances. A great quality is that unlike most other cloths, they are free from fluff and or fibre shedding. They can also be used on all glasses and dinnerware, from whisky glasses to crystal jugs, and when they get dirty themselves you can stick them in the washing machine and they’ll come out brand new.
Cleaning balls. If a glass of wine really is your thing then you have to get yourself some glass-cleaning metal balls. These small pellet-sized balls last forever as they are made from high-quality stainless steel. Stick them in your glass with a couple of spoonfuls of water and then swirl them around for thirty seconds. They will pick up the dirt from any hard to reach places and leave you glasses sparkling.After they have been used they require just a quick rinse under water before they ready to be used once more. These are particularly good for cleaning things like glass vases and decanters, where it’s not always easy to get to the deep areas of the bowl by hand or brush.
