BELIEVE TO BEHOLD – JACK ALEXANDER: visionary artist, professional muralist, journeyman faux-finisher, spiritual guide and intuitive counselor

INSIDE EVERY ARTIST IS A MUSE who directs, inspires and encourages the creative process. For visionary artist, Jack Alexander, the paint, the canvas and the tools he uses are often his guiding force.

JACK WAS BORN SEEING AURAS. He also came into the world with a vivid remembrance of his former life existence in a place he calls “Home World.”

FROM THE TIME HE STARTED DRAWING when he was three years old, the majority of artwork he has produced depicts the energy and landscape of this idyllic environment. Home World is a lush paradise of three suns and two moons. It is an abundant environment of heaven on earth, into which Jack believes our planet is evolving.

AS A VISIONARY, A DIRECT INTUITIVE, AND A  DIVINELY INSPIRED ARTIST, Jack produces artworks that motivate the viewer to travel inside themselves on a deep, ecological journey to this idyllic place. The experience sparks for some an occurrence of spontaneous healing; for others, it stirs a recollection of former lifetimes. For all who view his artwork, the paintings are undeniably relaxing. Psychics and clairvoyants credit his images as having healing properties.

JANEE POWERS, EFT/REIKI MASTER TEACHER in Las Vegas, Nevada, describes her experience of Jack’s artwork this way:

“Each time I entered an area where Jack was working, I could feel the energy coming from the paint strokes. It was as if the art on the canvas was talking and reaching out. Just being near his work brings calm and peace or energy and excitement — depending on what you personally need. He truly is an artist with beautiful energy working through his hands, guided by divine and connecting with the powerful Universe to create amazing alive works of art.”

THE DOCUMENTED TRUTH OF HIS PAINTING STYLE is that he has no preconceived notion of what any piece will become. When working on a commissioned piece, for example, he uses only the client’s theme and color scheme and does not copy or draw anything out beforehand. Rather, he renders images with only paint by laying colored washes on the canvas and channeling the rest.

“I simply become part of the process without a conscious concept of where it will lead,” he says. “Much like allowing your imagination to play as you look at clouds, I see something in the movement of the paint, then I use a build up of washes to bring that out. I have no fixed idea what I am going to do next. I just go with the flow, building up and peeling away simultaneously, laying washes, seeing something, laying washes again and seeing more.”

JACK IS NO AMATEUR AT RENDERING FINISHED ARTWORKS that are both dreamy and realistic. Originally from San Francisco, he received his baccalaureate degree in Fine Arts and Design from Pepperdine University and trained in painting, sculpture and eco-habitation model-making at California College of the Arts. For eight years, he worked as a professional artist, muralist and faux-finisher in Bali, Indonesia where his clientele included Café Lotus, Rioshi Japanese Restaurant and Radisson Bali Hotel. In Bali, his artworks also won prestigious international awards.

IN 2007, as a journeyman painter and professional muralist/faux-finisher in Las Vegas, Jack single-handedly refurbished and repainted the 35-foot high sky ceilings at the Paris Hotel-Casino’s Le Village Buffet restaurant. He also served as foreman, punch crew painter, and journeyman faux painter, adding the finishing touches to several area restaurants, to the Concierge Suites and Lounge at the Venetian Palazzo Hotel-Casino Resort, and to all three guest room and suites towers at the Mirage Hotel-Casino. In addition, alongside a single co-worker, he spent six months repainting and maintaining all the faux-wood and faux-marble on the trim, walls, and columns throughout the hotel, casino and boulevard shops at the Paris Hotel-Casino.

JACK CURRENTLY LIVES IN SARASOTA, FLORIDA and travels nationally and internationally on commissions, painting murals, canvases and faux surface treatments for businesses and private homes. Collections of his artworks are featured in the entrance lobby at Cafe des Artistes in Punta Mita, Jalisco, Mexico; at the Loft Galeria in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; at Perry’s Joint in San Francisco; and at several restaurants and galleries throughout the island of Bali, Indonesia.

CLIENTS, DECORATORS, CONTRACTORS AND COLLECTORS call him a “master” at his trade. His canvases adorn the homes of such recognizable celebrities as actor Dustin Hoffman, Archbishop D. Tutu of South Africa and diplomats and dignitaries worldwide.

IN PRAISING JACK’S FAUX-DECORATING GIFTS, Heidi Anderson, President of the Nevada Holistic Chamber of Commerce and owner of Angel Blessings Wellness Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada says:

“When Jack was first describing his faux artistic abilities, I was having difficulty grasping what exactly he could do. Then he summed it up best with, ‘I can make ANYTHING look like anything else.’ I couldn’t comprehend this, so he had to keep repeating this to me whenever I’d ask him if he could do such and such.

“Then I put him to the test, and he proved that to be the truth. He has an incredible eye as a faux artist. In addition to all the faux throughout my space, what I found most incredible is that he made my ugly many-years-old linoleum look like extravagant marble. I was dreading having it all ripped up and new flooring installed. That was solved in no time.  People now walk in and can’t believe it’s paint, not marble.”

JACK’S LIFE MISSION focuses on the design and eventual implementation of a first-of-its kind, self-sustainable, eco-architectural model that has the potential to provide a limitless source of food, energy, and livelihood for millions of on-site residents.

OVER THE PAST 20 YEARS, his works have garnered “Best in Show” awards in several internationally juried competitions and have earned professional acclaim from the likes of Disney, Playboy, Warner Brothers and Save the Children International.

“If there’s anything I can do to further your interest in the creating, purchase or understanding of fine art, design or decorative possibilities,” he says, “please do not hesitate to get in touch.  People, upon viewing my work, often express a sense of ‘destiny’ in finding their way to me.

“Please check out my web site at jackalexander.mosaicglobe.com and feel free to phone or email via the contact information below to discuss possible ideas and options.  I gladly entertain all proposals for sales, expos and/or gala art events or exhibits to benefit nonprofit charity organizations. No project is too large or too small.”

Robert Glasper is a man of many talents. Certainly, he’s both an inarguably accomplished jazz pianist and a first-rate composer. But what Glasper does best is pick drummers. With 2007′s In My Element, he provided Damion Reid with a platform to record nothing less than the drum performance of the year. For this album, Glasper teams up with Chris Dave, and the results are astonishing. It’s a concept…
