Making Over A Bedroom For Kids
Do you need to makeover that bedroom? Maybe it is for one child. Perhaps it is for two children. You may need to move that loft bed with desk out and replace it. You might keep all the furniture and repaint everything.
Ask the child or children. They know what they want. It is their living space. They can give you a good idea of how to do the makeover. It will be easier on you, also. You will not have to make the decisions.
If the children have a large say in the remake, they will be happier. They will also be more cooperative. In some cases, they may want something that will not work. That is time for diplomacy.
When you wish to influence the decisions of the young, give them choices. Tell them they can decide between several things. Make sure that all of those things are acceptable to you. When they decide, they will feel like it was their decision.
If your children are younger, they may like bright colors. Glossy blue, green, or red, may be a good choice. Paint items that may not need paint, under normal circumstances. You can paint ceiling fan blades and furniture. A glossy green twin loft bed will stand out, and appeal to many kids.
The sex of the children may have a lot to do with color choices. You may need shades of pink and soft colors for girls. Boys may prefer blue or neutral colors.
Here is another possibility. Take your Husqvarna chainsaw outside. Find a small tree to cut down. Cut it into small logs. Let the children incorporate them into the room. They can paint them or place them anywhere. This will give them a unique decor.
Organization is important for kid rooms. Things like footlockers will look good. If there are children sharing the room, it will afford them privacy. You can also use brightly colored storage tubs. They are inexpensive. They will store toys and other important possessions.
Put a large chalkboard on one of the walls. The children can express themselves and their creative talents. This may make it easier on the walls, too.
Do you need a new floor? Make sure it is tough and durable. Carpeting is not always the best surface for these floors. You might consider a good vinyl tile. You can use the peel and stick type. It will be simple to keep clean. Let the children pick the floor color. Remind them that a neutral color is best. You may wish to sell the house in the future. A neutral floor will be best, when showing the house to buyers.
