How to Find the Right Coloured Contact Lenses
It is not often a person is spotted wearing colour contact lenses, that’s because they are supposed to blend relatively seamlessly with natural eye colour. When a person does have coloured lenses that just aren’t right, it’s rather obvious that something is off. In order to look and feel great while wearing these lenses it is important to figure out which ones are a good fit.
Contact lens companies have tried incredibly hard to make lenses that mirror natural eye colours and patterns, there are some really good choices available, but knowing the basics before visiting an optician can mean the difference between beautiful eyes and crazy eyes.
Aside from novelty lenses, there are three different types of coloured contact lenses: opaque colour tints, enhancement tints, and visibility tints. Opaque colour tints can dramatically change eye colour as they are deep, vibrant, and rich. They are usually pretty dense patterns so that they can pack a lot of colour into a small area. These are needed for people with naturally dark eyes in order to visibly alter the tone.
Enhancement tints are much less vibrant than opaque lenses and are aimed at people with lighter eye colours such as green or blue. Even if the natural colour is already light, enhancement contact lenses will not change the eye colour, they will simply enhance the existing one. The change is a rather subtle one and while many will be able to notice something different about the wearer, it is not always apparent that it is in the eyes.
Visibility lenses are very slightly tinted with colour for the sole purpose of helping to put them in, take them out, and finding them if dropped. The colour is so light, in fact, that it will not alter eye colour at all. If the goal is to find a new look, these are not the lenses to go with, however, they can be incredibly helpful for the clumsy person or for those who are tentative when inserting them.
Although there have been numerous recent advances in the technology, coloured lenses are not perfect; know that many of them can be prone to sliding around the iris, particularly when blinking, which will reveal some of the natural colour underneath the lens. But for someone who is looking to alter their look or style without any dramatic or expensive physical changes it is defiantly worth looking into a pair of coloured lenses.
