Creating a Scrapbook Room: How to Begin
If you are fortunate enough to be able to create a scrapbook room in your home, then you must be a serious scrapbooker and serious about the space you plan to use. Whether it’s a guest bedroom or home office or basement space that you’re converting, creating a scrapbook room is not as difficult as some might think. Although it is somewhat different than a home office or other space. When you are looking for discount scrapbooking supplies, here are some ideas and tips for setting up a scrapbook room.
As an example, when creating a scrapbook room you might need more surface space to work than you would for a typical office. Between large 12×12 pages and many embellishments and page elements you want to have accessible, your desk or table may need to be larger than normal. Many scrapbookers use tables as their workspace when setting up their scrapbook room, and you may want to think about doing that as well. A folding card table or old dining room table can work. Just make sure that it’s sturdy and will fit nicely in your new room.
Storage is of course an issue when creating a scrapbook room. You have paper, page elements and embellishments, as well as albums in progress that you want to have easily accessible. You can get lots of small storage containers from craft stores that work perfectly for your embellishments. These small stacked drawers are great for your tiny embellishments that you want to have right at your fingertips. A good idea for keeping pages that are halfway done or not ready for an album is to attach binder clips to the wall with hooks or even nails and then you can clip the papers so they’re up and out of your way. When creating a scrapbook room try to work this into your design scheme. It doesn’t take a lot of carpentry skills to pound some hooks into the wall, but you do need to space them correctly so that the papers are kept clean and neat.
You need a place to keep your baby scrapbook supplies. In addition, using wall space to organize your scrapbooking room is important. Shelves on the wall can hold storage containers for papers or anything else you need to put away. They can also store finished albums. Shelves are easy to install, and of course they make good use of otherwise wasted space in your room. Be creative with the storage in your scrapbook room, and do not assume that you need to have everything all on your desk or table. If you do, you will have a functional and beautiful scrapbooking room.
