Make A Green Quilt to Remember
I was remembering the quilts that I had produced over the years. I tried to remember as many as I could. I went over all my quilts whether it was patchwork, themed or patterned, I tried to think how many green ones I had made… And to my amazement, I couldn’t remember making even a single green quilt.
After coming to this realization, I could find no good reason for not having one. I then became fixed on make one. I sat down with my pencil and notebook and jotted down a couple of concepts for my green quilt.
Here’s just a couple of the ideas I came up with:
Link Theme
I have a nephew who is really into his Nintendo Wii. One of the numerous games I've seen him play is a game titled Zelda : Twilight Princess. The primary character of this game is a little hero called Link.
He dresses mainly in green, with a little bit of brown. The graphics on this game were fairly simple, with smooth edges and not a great deal of detail. Making a quilt with Link in one of the forest theme levels would be quite simple and would mainly feature a green design.
On top of this, my nephew would be over the moon with a blanket like this.
A Vine Blanket
Taking a rather more nature themed approach, I thought about the idea of using vines to make up the pattern of a quilt. You may have them criss-cross or just grow in random directions across the quilt, to fill out the pattern.
Once you have decided how the vines will go, add some leaves to every one of the vines to add some texture to your green quilt. It actually makes for a great free form design.
Now I am not going to tell you which idea I ended up going with, but I’m certain that I'm going to eventually use each one of them, as I like them all!
