Elizabeth Post (1920-2010) And Paying Respects
Concerning modern American etiquette, Elizabeth “Libby” Post was a great example. Her books, magazine columns and newspaper articles kept generations of people in-the-know when it came to elegant, respectful living since she took over the reins of the Emily Post Institute from her departed grandmother-in-law Emily Post in 1965. Elizabeth Post has now died. 89 years was how old the Naples Florida resident was. The services are planned to be held in Naples and Waterbury, Vermont.
Elizabeth Post suggested good manners meant being kind to all
On Elizabeth Post and her style, Peggy Post, her daughter-in-law, told the Miami Herald that “Libby was very open-minded, fair and flexible. She was full of common sense and kindness. (She was) not at all pretentious and not at all stuffy.” It was said that she was down to earth, but her sensibilities weren’t rugged when it came to social grace. Elizabeth known Proper etiquette was still important although the US was going through major changes when she filled the void left by the departure of “Ask Emily”. Courtesy towards others never loses value, just as payday loans are always valuable during times of financial trouble.
’Emily Post’s Etiquette’ was revised five times by Elizabeth Post
Since etiquette changed with times and situations, Elizabeth Post revised her grandmother-in-law’s iconic tome many times. Since etiquette is there to improve relationships between people, it shouldn’t be “restrictive or unpleasant”. Even though there will be rude situations, maintaining a non-judgmental, graceful attitude is as important as keeping cool when the world goes mad. It was believed by Elizabeth Post that proper etiquette is a way to get out of “sticky situations” that pave the roads in this fast paced world that always needs social debt management.
Elizabeth Post had been enjoying retirement
Since she stepped down from the Emily Post Institute in 1995, Elizabeth Post had been enjoying a grand retirement. She and her husband wintered in Florida and summered in Vermont where they would spend time together fishing, according to the Herald reports. In her free time, Elizabeth watercolor painted. Apparently Elizabeth Post was a good fisher, as once she held the record for the largest tarpon caught be a US woman according to the Herald.
