Paint Works

Becoming your Own Designer

If you think you know for sure the color you will be using in your next home improvement plan, then think again. Changing walls and wooden objects can use a couple of sound advices, so here are some.

1. Do your walls look old and boring? You should first check the paint variations from different positions and in different lights, by applying it onto a small piece of plastic that has a similar texture to a dried wall You will be amazed how different that paint stain looks in natural and artificial light. Apllying more than one layer can show you different intensities of the same color.

2. The walls should always be in the same color as the ceiling, but a shade darker. Paint the decorations in a darker tone compared to the one of the walls and for carpentry objects use the darkest tones. Paints that are based on oily colors do give the maximum effects.

3. If you hire a carpenter it’s useful to ask for a 10 centimeters sample of the material, to make an exact idea about the furniture piece you want. The same thing goes for floorings and carpets or even textile materials you want to use for sofa covers or window screens.

4. If you don’t want to paint a wall differently and let it act as your focal point, then place a small red object into the room, it will do the trick. Doesn’t matter if it’s an artificial flower or a big clock, some baby toys or baldwin baby grand pianos as long as they are red.

White walls can offer an amazing aspect. White is neutral, and if a room with striking white walls doesn’t have anything to say it’s because it’s lacking other design components, not because the walls are white. White also comes in lots of shades, if we can call them that. If you’ve chosen white as your dominant color for one room, you can easily enrich the space, by adding furniture pieces in various colors. The most important thing about white is the fact that it will always be fashionable. Mixing a white ceiling with some dusty white walls and bright accents can really a bring special modern aspect to a room.

She needn’t have hit us with such a pronouncement: In 16 songs that ring as remarkably, unflinchingly true as those on 2005′s landmark The Breakthrough,…
