How to pack books
A two cubic foot box should be used in packing books as books are quite heavy. It is not advisable to pack books too heavy as Movers Ashland may find it difficult to move your boxes, thus moving takes longer. Pack your books according to their sizes whenever possible. Begin packing by putting a clean sheet of packing paper at the bottom of your carton. A very effective way to pack books is to put them vertically in the carton. Pack books from the bottom of the shelf and place the open part of the book facing the side of the carton like you put them on your shelf.
For your next row, pack books spine to spine. You’ll get two rows way, and if there is no space for third row, place a paper between the second and third row. Depending on the remaining space, you can also turn books sideways, put your books spine to spine. Remember pages should not be touching pages. Do not put books in too tightly cause as they may get damaged when removing them from the carton. If there is still space remaining in the carton, use crumpled paper to fill the gaps to prevent any shifting or damage.
Cover your first layer books with a sheet of packing paper. Packing books flat is another method to safely pack books for moving. This is very simple. Bear in mind not to put pages facing pages. When you have no choice use crumpled paper in between the books. Keep filling the carton utilizing it to its capacity. The carton should be full but never over-filled. Over-filling the carton may damage both the carton and books inside. Before sealing the carton, put a sheet of packing paper first.
Once you have completed your first box, put the next empty box on top of the first filled box and continue packing books from the next higher shelf and so forth. It is easier to pack books this way and less strain on your back too.
Another effective way of packing books is putting them spine down. After putting a clean sheet of paper at the bottom of the box, put books with their spines facing down. Do not pack books with the spine facing up because this may cause the binding to break, warping your books. Whenever the first row of books is complete, pack your second row of books sideways with their spines facing downwards. Never pack books too tightly as they may get damaged when being packed or removed.
