Rubber stamps in the 21st century
We are now in the 11th year of the 21st. century and we are daily reading in newspapers and seeing on television a never ending story on how the use of new technology is changing the way we live almost daily – and despite this something as old fashioned as rubber stamps is still in big demand. It is estimated the yearly UK rubber stamp market is about 3.5 million different types of rubber stamps are sold every year. The market for rubber stamps is declining but only between 1% and 2% so rubber stamps will be around for many more years.
The variety of rubber stamps is huge ranging from advanced electronic rubber stamps, ink jet rubber stamps, self- inking rubber stamps of all kinds – but believe it or not the old fashioned rubber stamp with a separate ink pad is still having a market share of about 40%.

In the recent years different types of ”Protect your ID ” rubber stamps have been sold in hundreds of thousands in the UK and worldwide. The idea is very simple and easy to do. You simply buy a rubber stamps where the text plate is hundreds of small x’s and when you stamp the ID you want to hide with this no one can read the text below all the hundreds of x’s. Indeed a very good idea. The other market is name rubber stamps. In kinder gardens and hospitals there is a need for staff to know what clothes belongs to whom after it has been washed. A special long lasting ink has been developed able to withstand being washed many, many times. So the name of the child or the patient is simply stamped in the neck of a shirt, a blouse, trousers etc. and now it is easy for staff to identify to whom the clothes belong.
To gain market share rubber stamp manufacturers constantly develop new products and the latest is a bacteria free rubber stamp handle. The technology is called ” Micro band ” and rubber stamps with handles produced using Micro band will kill all germs immediately.
