Of course, designer edges carry a higher price to them since they require a higher level of workmanship compared to standard edges.
Some of the edge types that you can choose from are straight edge, bullnose, bevel, ogee, and pencil edges. These also come in different varieties, such as half bullnose, half bevel, double pencil, double ogee, and so on. The level of variety depends on what the fabricator can provide.
As mentioned, edges come in either standard or designer edges. Standard means they incur no extra charge and are considered part of the installation. Designer edges would mean additional cost to the overall price of the installation.
Edges can be done on-site, or in the fabricator shop. Designer edges are usually done in the fabricator shop since these require special machinery to create and fabricate.
How do you choose? It depends on the look that you want to achieve and the depth of your pockets. Edges can go from plain to elegant, so your choice would rely on the image that you want to portray. And since custom or designer edges require extra skill, the fabricator would charge extra for them. So a determining factor would also be the budget you set aside for the granite and marble installation.
But if you have the extra cash, investing on designer edges is the way to go. It gives a new dimension to your marble or granite slab and turns it to something new, stylish, and unique. Edges complete the look of any natural stone installation.
