Understanding Casual Corner Petites
After all, what may very nicely be much better than seeing for yourself the beauty and grandeur of the Pyramids, the mysterious and haunting Sphinx, and becoming up close and personal with the treasures of King Tut’s tomb? But 1 of the finest techniques to discover Egypt would be to get out of Cairo, and cruise the Nile; which is specifically what I did on my final trip to Egypt. And for this enchanting experience I booked passage on the fabulous Nile cruiser: Abercrombie & Kent’s Sun Boat IV.
This gorgeous boat was totally renovated in 2006 and is thought to be a 5 star “lodging.” With a capacity of only eighty guests (36 cabins plus 4 suites) it is intimate and elegant – a cruiser’s dream transportation.
One of my preferred parties to throw of all time is a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party! This is an adult tea party — enjoyable for each BIG boys and girls. Why would you throw a tea party, you might ask? Simple, they’re a fun strategy to celebrate an accomplishment, they’re good to throw in someone’s honor, but ideal of all, they make for great “just because” parties!
These six components are how I breakdown and design each party I throw, and they incorporate Theme, Mood and Color; Invitations; Décor and Ambiance; Food and Beverage; Activities and Special Touches.
Element #1 – Theme, Mood & Color: Carry Them Out In Everything You Do
Sparkling white, sleek and glorious – the boat was very easily probably the most impressive craft at the crowded dock. And it became immediately apparent that the staff was just as top notch as the boat herself. The words – “your every wish is my command” – are proper here.
Just like an interior designer creates a sample board, it is possible to create a “Party Design Board” to help you visualize how everything is going to come together. So grab a 2 x 3 foot cork board and some push pins, and let’s get started.
Your very first layer on the Party Design Board includes samples of issues having to do with your theme, mood and colors, and your decorations and ambiance.
Then, generating a giant “x” with two pieces of ribbon, divide your board into four triangular sections. Do this by pinning 1 end of the ribbon in the upper left-hand corner and bringing it down to the lower right-hand corner, and pinning it. Then repeat the process, bringing the second piece of ribbon from the upper right-hand corner to the lower left-hand corner. These four sections represent the four remaining components of a productive party: our Invitations, Food and Beverage, Activities, and Special Touches.
This section can basically include the paper materials, ribbon, stickers or embellishments you strategy to use, or a completed version of the invite.
The bottom section is exactly where you put a bit about your food and beverage plans. Perhaps a recipe card, photo of a particular dish or serving pieces, and/or a menu could be adhered in this area.
To the left is your activities section. These are the issues to maintain our guests engaged. I attached my music play list, list of skits, sample riddle card, and teacup shaped gift box. (This will all make sense in a bit.)
This is where I added a photo of my party favor, a sample of the favor packaging, and a thank you note design.
This Party Design Board tool, or exercise, allows me to 1st “test” the concept of materials I’m thinking of employing to determine if it is basically a cohesive party plan.
Element #2 – Invitations: Make Them Inviting
One way to make a creative invitation is to add vellum to a store-bought invite.
For your Mad Hatter’s Tea Party find a teacup invitation that you like and get some vellum from your office supply store, either plain or having a design, whichever looks most effective along with your invitation. Attempt to opt for a thing that doesn’t look too busy or that overpowers your invite.
The boat’s interior is classy and elegant. And the stylish cabins are a delight. I’ve been on several cruises, and these cabins are, hands down, the best I’ve seen: perfectly laid out for maximum functionality, and handsomely decorated. And should you really want to splurge, you can find two Royal Suites, every with its own balcony, which are situated on the Promenade Deck. Additionally, there are actually two Presidential Suites which are located on the Main Deck. The rest of the thirty six Luxury Cabins are situated all through the cruiser’s four decks. All cabins are air conditioned, have large picture windows, satellite televisions with in-house movies, safes, mini-bars, and direct dial international phones.
I printed an invitation poem on the vellum and attached it to the teacup invite employing a hole-punch and coordinating ribbon. It’s a cute EasyPeazy concept you’re welcome to make use of and/or modify to your liking:
“Hurry, hurry do not be late, keep in mind the time, remember the date,
It’s a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, you don’t want to be late,
Come and aid us celebrate.
March 20th will be the day, Arrive at four and shout hooray!
In Wonderland you will need to stay, at 9313-A Burton Way.
If you can come please let us know, call 278-5650.”
Element #3 – Decor & Ambiance: Remember Set and Setting Are Everything
The bathrooms are pretty tiny; but then I’ve never been in a ship’s bath that I’d describe any other way. But again, they’re incredibly well designed. They have rather petite-sized showers, plentiful bath linens, hairdryers, and an added bonus: they sport Molton Brown bath products.
For your Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, transform your party room into an indoor garden.
Building from the ground up, commence using the grass, yes, grass, by laying down AstroTurf. Rent it from a party rental firm or buy it from a carpet supplier or local residence improvement store. There are quite a few styles to pick from depending on how much you want to spend and it can begin as low as 45 cents a square foot.
Next, create a garden backdrop by employing a easy “scene setter.” You can purchase a selection of these on-line or at brick and mortar party supply stores. They usually cover as much as 20 feet of wall and are pretty price effective. I advise employing one for this party theme that comes in two 4-foot rolls and that provides you each a garden scene and also a daytime sky.
The Sun Boat IV carries quite experienced Egyptologists on board (the 1 assigned to lead your group, and others hired for those traveling privately.) My group, following settling in our cabins and having lunch, was whisked off with our Egyptologist to visit the Valley of the Kings (including the Tomb of Tutankhamun) along with the Valley of the Queens.
The manufactures advocate employing tacky putty to make the scene setters stick. However, if it’s not sticking to your walls, or you’re not comfortable putting the putty directly on your walls, then here’s a tip. Use blue painters tape every 6 inches or so on the wall, after which put the tacky putty or some other double-sided adhesive on top of that.
