A Colour For Every Occasion: How to Pick The Right Colour for Your Rose Quilt
As the age old proverb goes ‘Roses are Red, Violets are blue ‘ Well this isn’t the truth any more! While the most famous roses are red, they also come in Yellow, White, Peach, Pink, Lavender and, thanks to modern science, Blue!
But if you’re looking at making a rose quilt, why let the laws of nature apply to your pattern? Your pattern can have roses of any colour that you choose. But what colour is the right color to pick? Well, if you’re making it for yourself, you’ll be wanting to select your own colour. Nevertheless, if you’re making it for some other person, different colours can have different meanings.
To make the choice easier, I have made a guide to help by defining the difference between the rose colors. So without further ado, the meaning behind rose colours:
Red, this is the traditional and most recognized rose colour. Red roses symbolise true love, passion, respect and bravery. Although it usually infers ‘I love you ‘ it could also mean commitment and determination.
Yellow, this is the color of joy and gladness. It’s also the colour of closeness and freedom. Yellow roses are great for welcome home or ‘missing you ‘ presents or simply as a gift for a real friend.
Pink is the color of thanks, sympathies and admiration. This is great for a birthday occasion or as a get well shortly gift, and let me tell you, the last rose quilt I gave as a get well shortly present, went down a treat!
Orange is for Boldness, Desire, Curiosity and Enthusiasm. Orange roses are perfectly fitted to an achievement present, for example a gift for a graduation or individual success.
Lavender is the symbol for enchantment, bewitchment, fantasy and lust. This is excellent for a ‘love at first sight ‘ or ‘potential courting ‘ present.
White Like the wedding dress, White symbolises Purity, Sincerity, Innocence and Admiration. This is when you wish to give a present for ‘pure love ‘.
Don’t see the colour listed above? This can be a nice thing. It suggests there is not any precise meaning attached to your rose colour so there isn’t any likelihood of your rose quilt being misinterpreted.
